The Joys of Electric Transportation - Dave's introduction
I am not a bicyclist. I don't use spandex, water bottles, helmet mirrors, or any of the other accoutrements used by real bicyclists. I discovered electric bicycling by accident. I was in Northern Idaho vacationing and saw bike trails all over the area - even into Montana. I saw bikes traveling along the trail where it ran near the main roads I drove, but the trail frequently disappeared into areas not accessible by car. I considered buying a bicycle -- for about 2 seconds. The likelihood of my riding a bike into the unknown, not knowing how hard the pedaling would be coming back is zilch. Ain't gonna happen. I could almost feel the pain in my legs and the sweat pouring down my face. Yet I wanted to experience the things people spoke of -- the wooden train trestles of the past yielding to the bike paths of today; the tunnels cut through mountains dripping snowmelt through limestone; the mountains, the rivers, the views. In researching motors and control systems I discovered electric bikes already existed. I quickly weeded through the garbage -- the ones that look like mopeds -- and decided on a Currie E-Ride. It was more expensive, but more powerful, and it looked like a regular bike. It was no mistake. I did get to experience those trails, and I discovered something I didn't expect when I got home: I could hop on my e-bike and run errands. It was faster than using my car because of the ease of parking and the ability to use sidewalks, and it was nearly free! I was putting gas in my car less than once a month. Clearly, my bike paid for itself many times over. I wanted to share my discovery of electric transportation. Thus was born ElectricRider. Some scenes from Idaho and Montana:

The best e-bike for the money
Currie stopped making bikes, so a small group decided to import a similar product. They sent pictures, but I was skeptical. The day I got my Rayos bike, I sold my Currie E-Ride. The Rayos's full suspension frame is more comfortable, absorbs the bumps, and runs quiet and smooth. I was happy so many improvements had been made.

Made In Taiwan
Rayos bikes are made by Ideation in Taiwan. The difference in quality between this and Chinese-made pseudo-bikes is evident. For one thing, Ideation uses a much more efficient brushless motor system. This brushless motor produces a lot more torque and drains less from the batteries. Torque is the power to climb hills and accelerate quickly.

Independent Human and Electric Drive Systems
The Rayos bike has completely independent human and electric drive systems. That means they don't interfere with each other, and you can choose to pedal with or without added power, or not pedal at all.

Standard Bike Parts
The Rayos is a 8-speed full suspension mountain bike that uses standard bike parts. Seats, handlebars, brakes and other non-electric parts can be found at bike shops and some department stores. Electric parts, standard bike parts, batteries, chargers and accessories can be found at ElectricRider. The Rayos bike comes complete with batteries and charger.

Home Assembly Guide - an ElectricRider exclusive
We produced our own Home Assembly Guide that takes you step-by-step through the assembly with illustrated pictures and detailed instructions. Assembly takes about an hour when you do it for the first time, and doing it yourself really helps you to familiarize yourself with your new bike. ElectricRider has technicians on staff who have assembled many Rayos bikes and can answer questions about the assembly and operation of your new bike.

ElectricRider will pay for assembly
We really want to introduce you to the benefits and enjoyment of electric transportation. If fear of assembly is keeping you away, ElectricRider will pay for the professional assembly of your Rayos bike at your local bike shop. With a professional assembly we know everything will be adjusted correctly and you will enjoy your bike to its fullest. Typical charges are between $25 and $50. Just send your assembly receipt to ElectricRider within 30 days of purchase and we will send you a check for up to $50 reimbursement. We want your future electric transportation business.
